VAT numbers and Tax IDs (Value Added Tax Identification Number) are unique numbers that identify a taxable person or business. An EU VAT number is a unique identifier for tax purposes within the European Union and is solely given to EU-based businesses.

Do I need to provide a VAT number?

For EU-based agencies, you’ll need to provide a VAT number. If not, we are required to charge a 27% Hungarian VAT rate. If you’re unable to find your EU-VAT number and are based in the EU, contact your accountant for assistance.

Here’s how it works:

  • For agencies outside of the EU: No Tax ID or VAT number is required, and you will not be charged the 27% Hungarian VAT Rate

  • For agencies in the EU: A VAT number is required—if you’ve provided us with the correct EU VAT number* (confirmed by the VIES database), you won't be charged VAT.

  • For a private person or entity: If you want to pay for invoices as a private entity, we are obliged by law to add the VAT rate of your country

*Note: Make sure you've provided the correct VAT number to ensure that you won't be subject to the 27% Hungarian VAT rate.

How do I find my EU VAT number?

An EU VAT number starts with your country code, followed by a sequence of digits or characters. Keep in mind that the EU VAT number differs from the local Tax/VAT number assigned during business registration.

In the majority of EU countries, businesses are responsible for registering their VAT number with local tax authorities.

To learn more about VAT numbers, see this page by the European Commission.

How does Infloww verify my EU VAT number?

We check the provided EU VAT number's accuracy through the VIES database—the official EU platform for validating the EU VAT number's usability in cross-border transactions.

To check the validity of your EU VAT number, enter the number into the VIES search form. Once you enter your number, the system will then retrieve the VAT information associated with the number, including the name and address of the business.

Note: If your VAT number is invalid or are experiencing any issues, please contact your accountant or tax advisor.
